Christie Leigh Hill Class Director & Office Manager

Hometown: Auburn, AL

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science ’08, Auburn University & Master's Degree in Biomechanics ’10, Auburn University

Bio: Christie Leigh has worked at AGA since 2007 as a coach. When she first started at AGA she coached various classes such as preschool, beginner and intermediate classes. In addition to coaching recreational classes, she also worked as a receptionist. She began coaching team in 2009 and has coached Level 2, Level 3, Level 4, and Level 5. Since 2011, she has been the Class Director & Office Manager. She currently coaches Pre-Team (6-8) & Pre-Team (9+) and helps to prepare those students to move to one of our competitive team groups.

When she was younger she competed for Gwinnett Gymnastics Center for 10 years. At GGC, her team swept the Georgia State Championships two years in a row where Levels 4-10 won the state title. 

Christie Leigh is engaged to Davis McHugh. They are currently palnning their wedding to be held in Opelika, AL on December 8, 2018. Together they enjoy spending their time with their two dogs, Nova and Novella.

Fun fact about Christie Leigh is that she also serves as the Chapter Advisor for her sorority at Auburn University and advises a chapter of 250+ young women. She is passionate about Gamma Phi Beta's philanthropic mission toward building strong girls.

 

Natalie Hammonds Team Director

Hometown: Notasulga, Alabama

Education: Bachelor's Degree '98 in Environmental Science, Auburn University

Occupation: Quality Assurance Manager- IAS at Weston Solutions, Inc

Bio: Natalie has worked at AGA since 2011 where she has coached recreational, Level 2, Level 3, Level 4 and Level 5 gymnastics. She now serves as the AGA Team Director and Level 4 coach.  She is also a USAG Level 10 rated judge and judges various meets on the weekends. 

Natalie is married to Richard Hammonds. They have two daughters, Sage Hammonds and Jillian Hornsby. Sage is a barrel racer and Jillian was a level 10 gymnast at AGA. Upon her senior year, Jillian retired as an athelte and now joins the AGA staff as a Junior Olympic and Team Coach.

Fun fact, Natalie trained with AGA back in the 80s and competed on AGA's first ever competitive team.

 
Tiffany Chandler Optional Team Coach

Hometown: Opelika, AL

Education:   BS '08 (Troy University), MS in Sports & Fitness Management '10 (Troy University)

Bio: Tiffany Chandler is in her first year as the Optional gymnastics coach here at Auburn Gymnastics Academy. She is also the Site Coordinator for Huntingdon College on Southern Union’s Campus.  She is also the owner of SugarShredz Nutrition & Training. SugarShredz is a part-time project of Tiffany’s where she serves others with nutritional and exercise training guides either in person or on-line.

Prior to her current endeavors, Tiffany was the Head Cheerleader coach at Troy University, coached at Premier Spirit Academy in Auburn, Alabama and spent time coaching at her club gym United Gymstars in Montgomery, Alabama. She earned her Master’s Degree in Sports & Fitness Management at Troy University in 2010 and her Bachelor’s Degree from Troy in 2008. Tiffany also holds certificates in ACCAA safety, personal training,  as well as being a professional body builder through the International Federation of Body Building.

Tiffany serves as the Troy University Cheerleaders Alumni Association President and was a letter winner during her time as a Troy Trojan Cheerleader. She was a gymnast at Auburn University for the 2004 and 2005 seasons. After College athletics, Tiffany pursued fitness, where she has traveled the world competing in the IFBB.

Tiffany is married to Opelika High School Football Coach & Educator, Jonathan Chandler. They have one daughter, Stallings (2yrs) and attend Church of the Highlands-Opelika.

An interesting fun fact about Tiffany, is she did gymnastics at Auburn Gymnastics Academy in the early 90’s prior to the Barn burning down. She then moved with the club over to Gymtiger Gymnastics. Tiffany was a Level 10 Gymnast for 6 years, a JO Qualifier, a 2 seasons with Auburn University. 

Joshlyn Bess Team Coach

Hometown: Montgomery, AL

Education: Bachelor of Psychology

Bio: Joshlyn worked at AGA as a staff member from 2004-2009 while in college and served as the Team Director from 2014- 2018. She now serves as a Team Coach for the Academy. She competed for Armory Athletics & United Gymstars, as well as trained elite gymnastics in Houston for 2 years. She is currently a USAG Level 10 rated judge and enjoys judging meets on the weekends.

Destiny Brooks Junior Olympic & Progressive Coach

Hometown: Huntsville, AL

Major: Junior in Business

Bio: Destiny has worked at AGA since April of 2016. She danced for 10 years and did gymnastics for 2 years. Prior to AGA, Destiny worked at Alabama Kidnastics for 6 years. Destiny also works at MyGym in Auburn. In her spare time, she enjoys anything outdoors such as mountain biking and running.

Ariel Brown Compulsory Team Coach

Hometown: Auburn, AL

Education: Senior at Auburn High School

Bio: Ariel has worked at AGA since May of 2015. She competed with AGA for 7 years up through Level 8. In her spare time, she enjoys tumbling and dancing.

Grace Cheng Progressive Coach

Hometown: Auburn, AL

Education: Sophomore at Auburn High School

Bio: Grace was a gymnast at AGA for three years. After retiring, she joined our coaching staff at AGA. In her spare time, she likes to watch Netflix and spend time with her friends.

Aleesha Dillion Xcel Team & Junior Olympic Coach

Hometown: State College, Pennsylvania

Major: Sophomore in Psychology for Pre-Law

Bio: Aleesha has worked at AGA since January of 2016. She competed with Bellefonte YMCA for 7 years. After retiring from competing, she coached at Bellefonte for 4 years before coming to AGA. In her spare time, she enjoys swimming, reading, and sunning.

Courtney Dockery Progressive & Junior Olympic Coach

Hometown: Spring Lake, MI

Major: Junior in Kinesiology (Pre-PA)

Bio: Courtney has worked at AGA since January 2018. Courtney joins us after 10 year of competitive gymnastics at Tumbleweeds in Tucson, AZ. In her spare time, Courtney volunteers at the hospital to gain a better understanding of her future goals to be a Physicians Assistant.

Sydney Fobbus Compulsory Team Coach

Hometown: Fort Payne, AL

Major: Sophomore in Microbiology

Bio: Sydney has worked at AGA since January of 2017. Sydney attended North Alabama Gymnastics center for 8 years finishing at Level 8. In her spare time, Sydney enjoys playing with her dogs and reading. She also serves as a Volunteer Manager for Auburn University Gymnastics.

Morgan Gaston Preschool Coach

Hometown: Montgomery, AL

Major: Freshman in Speech Pathology

Bio: Morgan has worked at AGA since January 2018. Morgan joins us after coaching at the Armory in Montgomery where she was preschool coach of the year. In her spare time, Morgan enjoys shopping!

Kyla Graba Preschool Coach

Hometown: Minneapolis, MN

Education: Sophomore at Auburn High School

Bio: Kyla is the daughter of Jeff Graba, Head coach of Auburn University Gymnastics. Kyla competed with AGA for 5 years before retiring to coach our Fantastic 4s classes. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling and spending time with friends and family.

Jillian Hornsby Junior Olympic & Compulsory Team Coach

Hometown: Notasulga, AL

Education: Senior at Lee-Scott Academy

Bio: Jillian joins us as a coach at AGA after 9 years of gymnastics where she finished her career as a Level 10. Jillian plans to attend Auburn University in the fall and loves all animals.

Piper Hughes Preschool and Progressive Coach

Hometown: Auburn, AL

Major: Freshman in Nursing

Bio: Piper has worked at AGA since February of 2018. She competed gymnastics at AGA for 5 years. She has cheered in high school. In her spare time, Piper enjoys watching Netflix and hanging out with her friends and sisters in her sorority at AU.

Blake Jones Compulsory Team Coach

Hometown: Baton Rouge, LA

Major: Senior in Microbiology

Bio: Blake competed with Elite Gymnastics through Level 10. She also competed with Auburn Gymnastics through 2016. She currently serves as a manager with the University team and coaches our competitive Level 2-4 team. In her spare time, she enjoys watching Netlfix and reading.

Kat Krista Progressive Coach

Hometown: Dothan, AL

Major: Sophomore in Pre-Communication Disorders

Bio: Kat competed in gymnastics for 5 years for SEAGA. She also cheered competitively and for her high school. She has been in AGA since January of 2015. In her spare time, Kat enjoys serving as an executive officer for her sorority at AU.

Liz Krista Preschool Coach

Hometown: Dothan, AL

Major: Junior in Kinesiology

Bio: Liz has worked at AGA since August of 2016. She competed gymnastics for 6 years. She also cheered competitively and for her high school. In the summers, Liz works with Universal Cheer Association teaching cheer camps. 

Lauren Little Junior Olympic & Progressive Coach

Hometown: Auburn, FL

Education: Senior at Auburn High School

Bio: Lauren has worked at AGA since August of 2017. She joins us after competing 9 years at AGA and finishing her career as a Level 9 gymnast. Laurens also runs track for her high school and loves spending time with her friends and family.

Jami Proksa Progressive Coach

Hometown: Crystal Lake, IL

Major: Junior in Communication

Bio: Jami has worked at AGA since February 2018. She competed 8 years in gymnastics at Crystal Lake Gymnastics Training Center and then cheered competitively for her high school for 2 years. In her spare time, she likes to spend time with her friends and watch Netflix.

Brooke Rush Compulsory Team Coach

Hometown: Auburn AL

Occupation: Manager at Moore Mill Country Club

Bio: Brooke attended Auburn University and graduated in 2012 with a degree in Human Development and Family Studies. Growing up, she was a gymnast for 8 years and a cheerleader for 5 years. She loves traveling (especially to Disney World) and spending time with her family. She is a big Auburn fan and attends as many AU sporting events that she can!

Noelle Sanders Receptionist

Hometown: Auburn, AL

Education: Junior at Auburn High School

Bio: Noelle’s sister is a current Level 9 gymnast on AGA’s competitive team. Noelle plans to attend Auburn University upon her HS graduation. In her spare time, Noelle, enjoys spending time with her family and friends.

McKenzie Shelton Compulsory Team Coach

Hometown: Auburn, AL

Major: Freshman in Organismal Biology

Bio: McKenzie enjoyed gymnastics for 12 years, finishing at level 9 her senior year of high school. She has hopes of becoming a radiologist. In her spare time she enjoys reading, writing, and working out. She also serves as a volunteer manager for Auburn University Gymnastics.

Will Strohmeyer Team Spotter & Progressive Boys Coach

Hometown: Destin, FL

Major: Junior in Psychology

Bio: Will has worked at AGA since May of 2015. He took gymnastics at AGA when he was younger and living in Auburn. He also competed in Competitive Cheerleading with ACE as a level five worlds team. In his spare time, Will enjoys working on his photography.

Major: Sophomore in Biosystems Engineering

Bio: Kaitlyn has worked at AGA since August of 2018. She started at  at Goose Creek Gymnastics and then competed for 6 years at Choice Gymnastics in Summerville, SC.  In her spare time, she enjoys painting and attends Octane Car Club through Auburn University.
